Special Events

There is a wide range of activities planned in Gael-Taca for this year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge festival.

Our events will kick off on Saturday 2 March with a special event for our younger members , the first story-telling Gradam Uí Chuanacháin. We’ll have a an open-market/second-hand booksale on Sunday where we welcome the public in to sell and exchange their old books with others in the Ionad on the day.

We’ll have a busy day Wednesday 13 March with our Thursday conversation group heading to Áras an Uachtaráin to meet the President. Then that evening local writer and publisher, Risteárd Mac Annraoi will launch his newest book - Mealltacht Chorcaí - with Des MacHale as guest speaker.

On Friday we will have the big event of the week - Oíche na Seachtaine in Crawford & Co. from 8.30pm onwards. The final events of the festival will take place in the Ionad, 16 March with Ireland’s final 6 Nations live in the Ionad, immediately after ‘Seisiún an tSathairn that morning at 12.
